Jess, Lane, Rhett, and Corbin steward 90 acres just outside Waynesville, Ohio—our home farm, originally purchased in 2013.

A small creek winds through the property, giving Carroll Creek Farms its name, alongside wooded acreage intentionally preserved as a natural habitat. In 2017, we transitioned the majority of the farm away from conventional row crops to permanent pasture. This shift was made to protect the highly erodible soils common in our region and to improve the long-term health of the land while allowing us to steward livestock in harmony with the natural landscape.

We established a year-round root system with diverse grasses and made a significant infrastructure investment, installing more than 2.5 miles of fencing to create five rotational grazing paddocks. This system allows livestock to be moved frequently in ways that mirror natural grazing patterns, improving soil structure, forage quality, animal health, and overall ecosystem function.

In 2019, we expanded our operation by purchasing the neighboring farm, increasing our acreage and enhancing our grazing rotation.

In 2023, the farm was placed under a permanent conservation easement held by Cardinal Land Conservancy, https://www.cardinallandconservancy.org/, ensuring the land will remain in agricultural use and preserved open space forever. Located near Caesars Creek State Park, we consider ourselves fortunate—and responsible—to steward both land and livestock with conservation, soil health, and ecological balance at the center of everything we do.
